Nestled along the banks of the beautiful Gambia River, JVHM stands as a living testament to the rich cultural tapestry of West Africa. Rooted in centuries of history, our museum is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the vibrant communities that have called this region home for generations.
At Juffureh Heritage and Village Museum, our mission is to illuminate the stories of the past, fostering a deep appreciation for the diverse cultures that have shaped the Gambia. We aim to inspire curiosity through immersive exhibits, interactive experiences, and engaging educational programs.
To showcase unity and diversity of The Gambia's culture and heritage by creating and establishing a museum and an education center on Gambia's diverse ethnic groups and cultures
To develop and to sustain cultural and ecotourism products and its relevance for national development and international cooperation through promotions, cultural exchanges, conferences and seminars.
To educate people on diverse Gambian languages especially, Mandinka, Wollof, Pulaar, ola, Serere, Serahule to international students, children of Gambians from the diaspora, Gambian students and expatriates living in The Gambia.
To create and maintain a sustainable cultural environment by establishing a cultural village for the study and teaching of culture as environment, as education, as development and as history.
